Altruistic Humble Beginnings
The Altruist is the official publication of the Far Eastern University - Tamaraw Volunteers (FEU-TAMVOL). It was founded in 2005 during the term of Kares Salendrez as the organizational president. John Paul Uminga (II AB English Language), then Director of Chamber for Humanitarian Aid, served as the founding Editor-in-Chief of the publication which aims to be the "advocate of student volunteerism".
The maiden issue of the Altruist was circulated in limited editions to various student organizations, academic departments & other offices in the Universty. It was inspired by the monthly calendar-gazette of the Hands on Manila, Inc., one of the partners of the organization in its cause of empowering the Filipino people to be active stakeholders in nation building.
